Biotechnology: The institution introduced its biotechnology program in 2002, offering both undergraduate and two postgraduate programs: M. Tech in Biotechnology and M. Tech in Bioinformatics. Chemical Engineering: Established in 1982, the Chemical Engineering department addresses the needs of this emerging discipline and its related fields. The department also provides an M. Tech program. Renowned companies and educational institutions such as CSIR Labs, N.A.L Bangalore, I.I.P Dehradun, IISc Bangalore, and IIT Bombay offer training and guidance to students from this institution.
Civil Engineering: Founded in 1964, the Civil Engineering department offers undergraduate programs and two postgraduate programs in Structural Engineering and Highway Technology. Electrical & Electronics: The Electrical & Electronics department commenced in 1963, boasting a team of well-qualified, highly experienced, and dedicated faculty. Engaged in pioneering research and development, the department's curriculum encompasses Power Engineering, Electronics, and Computers, aligning with contemporary trends in Electrical and Electronics Engineering education.
Electronics & Communication Engineering: Founded in 1972, the Electronics & Communication Engineering department offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs under VTU. Specializations in VLSI Design & Embedded Systems and Communication Systems are available at the postgraduate level. Supported by excellent infrastructure and MOUs with leading industries and research establishments, the department fosters research across various specializations.
Industrial and Production Engineering: Established in 1985 and affiliated with Bangalore University, the Industrial and Production Engineering department offers a four-year undergraduate program focused on industrial and production engineering. Evolving from traditional to contemporary practices, the curriculum emphasizes Engineering & Managerial interventions. The department hosts a VTU-recognized research center, allowing students to actively pursue research in areas such as Supply Chain Management, E-enterprise Modeling, Lean Manufacturing System, and more.
Information Science & Engineering: The Department of Information Science Engineering serves as a focal point for innovation through teaching, research, development, and consultancy, establishing itself as a global center for advanced, sustainable, and inclusive technology.
Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering: Established in 1981, the Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering department at RV Engineering College offers a postgraduate program and operates an established Research Centre affiliated with VTU. Accredited multiple times by the NBA, New Delhi, the department delivers quality technical education with an emphasis on research aligned with the institution's vision. Master of Computer Applications: In 1997, RV College of Engineering Bangalore introduced the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) course. The department holds the distinction of being the first PG program under VTU to receive accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi. Additionally, it is recognized as a VTU Research Centre, marking significant milestones in its journey.
Mechanical Engineering: The Department of Mechanical Engineering commenced with autonomous status. The Research and Development Centre, established in 1986 under Mysore University affiliation, engages in sponsored research, consultancy, testing, and characterization. It offers MS and Doctoral Programs. M. Tech programs in Product Design and Manufacturing, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Machine Design, and Tool Engineering were initiated under VTU in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008, respectively.
Telecommunication Engineering: This department aims to equip graduates and postgraduates with strong fundamentals in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. It introduced a PG program in Digital Communication in 2013 and another in Radio Frequency & Microwave Engineering. Research projects focus on Image Processing, Networking, Wireless Communication, System Design, and RF Communication.
